Hook and Troy

Hook Movie review

Hook is a What If version of Peter Pan. It takes place in London and Neverland, as usual, but this time starts out with Peter Pan grown up. The story is this: Peter has grown up, become a business man, gotten married, and now has two children, Jack and Maggie. The family goes on a visit to Wendy's home in London. While on the visit Peter's children are kidnapped by Captain Hook. Having forgotten his past Peter must be reminded by TinkerBelle and the rest of the lost boys of who he once was. He is given three days to become young at heart again and must once again battle the mighty Captain of the Jolly Roger, Hook in an effort to save his kids.
With Dustin Hoffman as Hook, Robin Williams as Peter Pan, and Julia Roberts as TinkerBelle, this is one adventure that is sure to delight you. Hook is rated PG and contains some violence but in a simple and humerous way. I do not recomend it for youngsters but to everyone else, this is a movie that will keep you entertained. Hook was nominated for 5 1991 Academy Awards and is sure to keep up the youthful spirit of Peter Pan

Troy Movie Review

For all you movie lovers out there, those of you who just love an action movie, others who love the romance stories and chick flicks, and those of you who want an emotional etatching movie, here it is, just waiting for you.
The movie Troy is the story of a Spartan Queen Fallen in love with a Trojan prince. In the last minute they decide to flee to Troy and the queen becomes a Trojan princess, to marry Prince Paris of Troy. The Greeks (Spartans) chase after their lost posession, as she was thought of, and a great war begins, only to end in great sadness and triumph of the Greeks.
The rating of the film, R, is well given although for a different reputation. It may seem like a film filled with mostly violence, which would be the reason for its rating, but, however, the violence is not as gruesome as it may seem. The rating is mainly given for the love affairs and sexual occurances. I myself am not a fan of seeing the backside or anyside of Brad Pitt or Orlando Bloom as well as many others.
Even with the disturbing sexual parts of the film, which last less than a minute each, the movie suceeds in catching you heart and you mind and for some it may be life changing.
The actors and actresses do a superb job, although I am not too fond of Orlando Bloom's performance. There is one scene, right after Brad Pitt's character kills Hector, Paris the Prince's brother, the king of Troy, played by Peter O'Toole, comes and begs for Hector;s body. This scene is incredibly taking and the emotional touch shown between the two is amazing and well acted.
Overall, even with the movie's downsides, I highly recommend it to all movie goers because it contains all the elements that each different person might like in a movie.
