How Society Changes its Views and Ideals

Throughout the years, society has gone about its ways, often changing its views on different topics. These views can go from good to bad or from bad to good. The process is a slow one that develops throughout time, influenced by thinkers, role models, media, industry/commerce, and government.
There are many categories, of influence, that lead to changes. The Government, for example, can control the way people do things and think about things by using force of law, civil courts, tax incentives/disincentives, and education. The media has many means of influencing people. The news filters, promotes, and colorizes things and information. Television, stage, movies, books, magazines, newspaper, radio, and the internet are all forms of influencing media. Such entertainment media might also include comedy, drama, sports, talk, and documentary, which both praise and ridicule things. Advertising is seen everywhere in today’s society; just a catchy tune could cause you to buy something at the store. Associates, peers, and role models influence our upbringing and the way we think. Thinker, business elite, and academia, or professors, often affect our views on topics. All of these things cause changes in views; over the years, things have gone from acceptable to unacceptable, unacceptable to acceptable.
There are many examples of how these things influenced culture and society. In the realm of comedy, Norman Lear produced such shows as “All in the Family” and “Golden Girls.” Such shows had characters that represented the different ideas developing and the different people in America. They had great influences on the way people thought of certain things. Throughout history, ideas have come to light. Radicals and new thinkers and inventors have brought about so many changes. For example, After Darwin and the Enlightenment came Karl Marx. Eventually, because of fake mask put on to hoax the public, aggressive international communism became popular. During the Depression and the rise of Hitler, there was a demand for more government involvement. People wanted a leader to lead them out of poverty; they wanted the government to help them. Values were destroyed along with family and the church; they were substituted with the government. This led to crediting of extramarital sex (such as adultery and fornication) and discrediting of fidelity. Homo marriage has been a common demand in the year. 2004. A man could be fired for making a joke up about homosexuals.
There have also been good ideals and views developed throughout history. The most famous of which would be the end of slavery and discrimination. There was always racism, bigotry, segregation, discrimination, and, in some places, slavery. Gospel thinkers such as preachers in the church developed Biblical ideals of slavery. Education and media, such as the famous book “Uncle Tom’s Cabin” influenced the way that people saw slavery. Soon, Civil War came. There were taxations, and force of law, military, and soon an end to slavery came. Still, discrimination and segregation existed. It wasn’t until the 1950’s and 1960’s that the Civil Rights Act was passed and bigotry began to decline; and such discrimination still exists today on a lesser scale.
As time moves on, new, radical ideas are thought of. Thinkers influence academia, such as Alfred Kinsey in the 1950’s, academia influence, which, in turn, influence everyone through government, media, employers, peers, and education. This slow process, of how bad things change to good and good things change to bad, thus shows that, throughout the years, society has gone about its ways, often changing its views and opinions on various topics.
